Thank you Mr. Trudeau!
Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,
My homeland, Iran, is struggling to unshackle itself from the oppression of a corrupt and rotten government. For forty-four years, the Iranian people have been held hostage by religious fanatics and tyrants who have tortured and stolen from their own people, and for decades has fomented conflict and violence in the region. The convulsions the world is witnessing on the streets of Iran are prompted by ordinary people yearning to be free. They are fed up of living in fear. Iranians only want to live their full potential and create a better quality of life in an environment of tolerance, freedom, safety, and of opportunity.
Hearing you in Ottawa leading a chant of Zan, Zendegi, Azadi (women, life freedom) deeply moves those who crave this for Iran. I cannot tell you how important and powerful a signal your solidarity with the people of Iran sends. Like most Canadian-Iranians, I know that your message and support is being heard deep inside Iran and it is having a very positive impact. I want to thank you for this and to urge you to continue to do all you can within your government and the councils of the world of which Canada is a prominent and respected voice and member. There is more concrete action you can take to support the Iranian people during this very dangerous time in Iran’s history. We are tremendously grateful for your ongoing commitment to freedom, human rights, and the people of Iran. Now more than ever, they need your support and Canada’s help in these troubled times.
